Aluminum is a material made to make jewelry that is not only affordable but jewelry that is also tarnish resistant, meaning it won't ever rust or turn your skin green.
You may wear your ring in water if preferred; however, it isn't 100% recommended as all of our aluminum rings are made with a water-based ink. If your ring comes into contact with water, it won't tarnish or rust, but the ink will fade a lot more quickly. With that being said, if the ink ever fades in your ring, it can easily be refilled at home with sharpie and rubbing alcohol. Simply go over the design with sharpie and then wipe off any excess ink with rubbing alcohol.
Sterling Silver jewelry is great for everyday wear and doesn't tarnish/require much care as long as it's being worn consistently.
You may wear your sterling silver jewelry in water, however, please be cautious of any strong chemicals (ie. bleach, chlorine, etc.) near your jewelry while wearing it as it can cause the piece to tarnish. Please do not wear your sterling silver jewelry in swimming pools, hot tubs, or any water that may contain high amounts of harsh chemicals.
If you aren't wearing your ring daily, be sure to store it in a cool, dry place, as most tarnishing will take place while the ring isn't being worn. All of our sterling silver pieces are sent out with a velvet drawstring bag; it is recommended to store them in there. Be sure your bag is completely shut before storing your jewelry away.
If tarnishing does occur, no worries. Simply use the polishing cloth that came with your ring and use it to clean off any tarnish. Tarnish on sterling silver jewelry is not permanent in any way and comes off easily.
14k gold fill is a great, affordable alternative for solid gold jewelry. It is a metal that is made of 5% pure 14k gold while being bonded to a base metal. While sounding similar to gold plated jewelry, it is nowhere near the same and is of much higher quality.
Gold filled jewelry is generally tarnish resistant as it does contain a thick layer of solid gold. However, if the ring is improperly cared for, it is possible for it to tarnish, but this is extremely rare. With proper care, your gold filled jewelry can last you numerous years and even decades.
Caring for your gold filled pieces is simple. Gold filled jewelry, like sterling silver is great for everyday wear and doesn't require much care as long as it's being worn consistently.
You may wear your gold filled jewelry in water if preferred; however, please be cautious of any strong chemicals (ie. bleach, chlorine, etc.) near your jewelry while wearing it, as it can eat at the gold layer causing it to fade and expose the base metal. Please do not wear your gold filled jewelry in swimming pools, hot tubs or any water that may contain high amounts of harsh chemicals.
To keep your ring looking shiny and as good as new, feel free to clean it regularly and gently using dish soap and warm water.
If you aren't wearing your ring daily, be sure to store it in a cool, dry place. All of our gold fill pieces are sent out with a velvet drawstring bag, it is recommended to store them in there. Be sure your bag is completely shut before storing your jewelry away.
Stainless Steel is a great affordable metal that can be worn daily without requiring much care.
If the piece of jewelry you purchased is original silver, stainless steel, you are free to wear it whenever and wherever. As for gold plated stainless steel, it isn't recomended to wear it in water and to treat it as any other gold plated piece of jewelry.
While stainless steel takes gold plating very well, in comparison to other metals, some pieces are more sensitive than others and it is best to simply avoid wearing it in water. For some of our gold plated pieces, tarnishing may occur while for others, tarnishing is rare.
Stainless steel jewelry that isn't plated in gold can be cleaned with either a polishing cloth or dish soap and warm water. Be sure to dry your piece after cleaning to avoid water spots.
Gold/silver plated jewelry is extremely affordable, however, it is the least best quality out of all the different metals listed on this page and isn't reccomended for every day wear.
Plated jewelry is very susceptible to tarnishing as it's a base metal covered in a super thin layer of either silver or gold. With that being silver/gold plated jewelry should not be worn in water or be near chemicals or sweat.
To keep your plated jewelry looking as good as new for as long as possible, be sure to only wear it occasionally and store it in a cool, dry place.
